An Unsealed Indictment
Could the Bible, a book that teaches that the Greatest Commandment is to love God and our fellow human beings, support a system of bondage and injustice? Perhaps the Bible and American Slavery have both been misunderstood.
On the 400th Anniversary of American Slavery, Dr. Richard Rodriguez explores this vital topic in his new book: An Unsealed Indictment: How American Slavery Violated the Scriptures. In the book, Dr. Rodriguez tackles even the most difficult Scriptures and the ugly history of American Slavery in order to bring healing to our relationships and uphold the honor of God’s Word.
In this podcast with Marcus Overstreet, Dr. Rodriguez shares what inspired him to write on this subject, the surprising things he learned in his research, and how Jesus emerges from the pages of his book as the perfect Master and Slave.
The author has earned a Ph.D. with distinction in U.S. History from Florida International University and teaches social studies for Miami-Dade Public Schools. Dr. Rodriguez is also a member of the Diversity Committee in the International Churches of Christ and has been a Christian for more than 30 years.
